Teachers Educating Teachers about DEIJ at Teach-Up Workshop

Chatsworth was delighted to host the DEIJ Teach-Up workshop on Saturday, March 9th where 54 participants from the various international schools attended. Teach-Up was a teachers-educating-teachers event on all things Diversity Equity Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) including embedding DEIJ in the curriculum, implicit bias, neurodiversity and more.
Dr. Darnell Fine, a middle school deputy principal and an experienced facilitator of adult learning, focusing on curriculum, assessment, and culturally responsive teaching delivered an engaging and interactive keynote. He dived into the complexities of diversity, equity, and inclusion and even included a framework for turning tough experiences into golden opportunities for personal growth and development. Our school librarian, Ms Tanja Galetti also provided a range of DEIJ related books and resources on display for participants to browse.
With a number of interesting DEIJ topics on offer at the breakout sessions, workshop participants had a fulfilling session gleaning insights and perspectives from the workshop presenters and interacting with one another. What better way to learn and exchange ideas about DEIJ than to spend a refreshing Saturday morning with passionate teaching professionals!
Thank you to all the speakers, workshop presenters and DEIJ committee members and all the staff working behind the scenes for making this event a success!
