Mission, Vision and Values

We strive to offer a community-based, yet internationally-minded learning experience which values each individual, to all students

At Chatsworth, we believe in the potential of every student who walks through our gates. We see it as our purpose to stir and awaken individual ambitions, and we strive to empower our students by providing the foundation on which they can build a hope-filled future and become people they envision themselves to be.

We believe that education doesn’t just happen in classrooms, but within the holistic school experience and our interactions as a unified community.

We believe in anchoring our students in a warm, friendly, supportive environment where they feel encouraged and inspired to learn.

We enable students to discover and pursue their personal interests.

We inculcate honesty, respectfulness and compassion in our community, where everyone has the right to be heard and valued.

Above all, we take to heart our mission to inspire, educate and enlighten as we work together as an internationally-minded, diverse, inclusive community to create the best learning experience for our students.

Our Learning Principles

The following Learning Principles are research-based, ‘best practice’ approaches to learning at Chatsworth International School. These principles guide Chatsworth teachers in the design and delivery of units that focus on quality learning opportunities for all of our students.

How We Define Learning

Learning is the life-long process of creating and adapting meaning from the acquisition of knowledge, concepts, and skills and their application to the world around us.

  1. Students learn best in a safe, positive, supportive and nurturing learning environment.
  2. Effective assessment and timely feedback is essential to student progress.
  3. Learning is purposeful, contextual and extends beyond the classroom.
  4. Learning is interconnected; it deepens and develops over time.
  5. Learning is both an independent and collaborative process.
  6. Learning is a reflective, metacognitive process.

IB Learner Profile

Around the school and in the classrooms is a set of words describing personality attributes. These words convey the IB Learner Profile. This profile represents the ideal attributes of an International Baccalaureate graduating student. It is a common set of values, developed in all three IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP) that transcend international boundaries and help develop internationally-minded people. IB learners strive to become inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective.

Students as well as staff are encouraged to recognise and support these attributes with everyone in our community. An easy example would be commending a child for being caring when looking after a new student, or for a quiet child being a risk-taker when speaking during a whole school assembly. Members of our school community take pride in modelling these attributes.
